It’s Halloween!

Inspiration: Book Cover

I’ve been obsessed with this book cover for some time now. As soon as I laid my eyes on it, I knew I wanted to do something similar.

Ta-da! What do you think?

Said A Blade Of Grass

Said a blade of grass to an autumn leaf, ”You make such a noise falling! You scatter all my winter dreams!”

Said the leaf indignant, ”Low-born and low-dwelling! Songless, peevish thing! You live not in the upper air and you cannot tell the sound of singing.”

Then the autumn leaf lay down upon the earth and slept. And when spring came she waked again - and she was a blade of grass.

And when it was autumn and her winter sleep was upon her, and above her through all the air the leaves were falling, she muttered to herself, ”O these autumn leaves! They make such noise! They scatter all my winter dreams."

Black and White Photo Challenge: Day Five

Tree Bark

Day five of the B&W photo challenge. A close up of tree bark, so wonderful. Nature never ceases to amaze me.

Now, with this fifth day, the B&W challenge is over. It was fun and I think I’m going to do more B&W, I had forgotten how rewarding it is. Going back to the roots of photography I suppose. Expect more B&W here on the blog.

Black & White Challenge: Day Four

Lights in the Night

Day four of the B&W photo challenge. Lights in the night. Yep, that was an easy one.

Black & White Challenge: Day Three

Day three of the B&W photo challenge. Silver ghost.

In fact, just a spray painted man on a dilapidated wooden building. I have converted the photo to black and white, increased the contrast and added some grit to the silver.

Black & White Challenge: Day One

Waiting for you

My friend Cynthia challenged me to posting one black & white photo every day for five days. You probably have seen this going around on Facebook already.

This is the first photo, heavily edited - the original photo is a teenage girl waiting for a friend outside a shopping mall. Pretty boring in fact, but I liked the pose and her hoodie, who made me think of Darth Vader, and from there … well, you see.

I simply love the golden light in the fall!

A world without October

I’m glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?

Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future

Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called a present.

I left my heart in Sydney

IMG 6712

I did, you know. Leave my heart in Sydney. Yesterday evening, as the mist slowly enveloped Switzerland and the moon rised over its dark valleys and mountains, I was suddenly aching for Sydney. Longing for its sunshine and easy going people. Missing so many things … Watching the moon rise over the Opera House from a waterfront table at Park Hyatt. Going to dinner in one of the numerous restaurants in Darling Harbour.  Watching the ferry trafic and the tourists at Circular Quay. Getting lost in the Rocks. Having tea in the Chinese Garden. Strolling in the Botanical Garden. Cruising the harbour.

Missing it so much that I created a Pinterest board  to mend my aching heart.

Sydney Opera House

I actually went back to my own Australia posts from last year and turned my back to the world for a while, dreaming of my next trip.

Today I choose to feel life

Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, hapiness, negativity, pain …

To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make misstages and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.

Delicious Autumn

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives?

Boredom is the feeling that everything is a waste of time; serenity, that nothing is.

All things on earth point home in October ...

All things on earth point home in old October; sailors to sea, travellers to walls and fences, hunters to field and hollow and the long voice of the hounds, the lover to the love he has forsaken.
